"day job" career has been in public policy - analyzing State laws and working with elected
officials and communities to better them. My personal life has been quite full - my early years
included lessons in survival no child should have to face, culminating in a youthful marriage
that ended violently. I have also known deep love, have two beautiful children who make my
mother's heart proud each and every day, and have found that life is messy, exhilarating,
painful, sweet, frustrating, amazing - and it is all just as it should be. I am happy to be alive
